Angkor Wat, after the sunrise crowd
We enter the galleries once the sunrise visitors have left for breakfast, and walk the bas-reliefs with an archaeologist-trained guide.
To be honoured
Eight days through Cambodia: the temples of Angkor at the best hours, the easy pace of Battambang and the royal capital of Phnom Penh.

Cambodia is a fitting journey to mark a milestone, an anniversary, a retirement, a team's successful year. We spend three days at Angkor, timing each temple to avoid the crowds, travel by road and river to Battambang for a glimpse of rural life and a new generation of artists, and finish in Phnom Penh with its palace, its museum and its riverfront.

In Battambang, the students of Phare Ponleu Selpak perform circus, music and theatre; we arrange a meeting with the artists afterwards.

III
In Phnom Penh, a historian guides us through the palace compound, the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum's Khmer sculpture.
Note from the journey designer
For groups celebrating a milestone, we can arrange a private dinner within the Angkor area, with traditional Apsara dance, subject to the authorities' permission.
Early starts at Angkor with long midday breaks; easier days afterwards.
Banteay Srei and the Kbal Spean riverbed carvings, or a boat to the Tonle Sap stilt villages.
Exchange Battambang for two nights at a beach resort on the Cambodian coast.
